We built an xray machine, then used it to xray the egyptian mummy we made last year. You can even see the amulets embedded in the wrappings!

One of the coolest images I've taken in a while. A geiger counter casting an xray shadow on an intensifying screen.

Accidentally demonstrated that photons carry momentum. This is a top down view of a cloud chamber, with an xray beam shooting through it from right to left. You can't see the xrays, but all the charged stuff they're sending flying is clearly moving in the direction of the beam!

This week only, our hand made posters are 15% off! Get your papyrus mummy instructions, or your "don't build the torment nexus" glow in the dark design.
And there's lots of new designs in our store as well, like this awesome "genetic engineering" tarot card poster!

And finally here is a bistable switch. Again, because I didn't "initialize" the cells, they've fallen into one of the two states randomly. Either yellow or red. But not both. I should be able to toggle/lock into each state with chemical triggers; Lactose and anhydroTetracycline respectively.

Ok now for genetic logic. This is the "repressilator" a genetic clock that counts 1...2...3...1...etc.
Because I didn't "trigger" my oscillator to start at a specific state, each cell started in one of the 3 states red/yellow/blue randomly. But all 3 proteins are being produced by different cells.

This next one is called "shyrfp". It is both thermochromic, and reversibly photochromic. So heat or blue light turns it red, cold/time reverts it to yellow. The switch back to yellow from pink takes about 30-45 seconds, so it's a really slooow fade. Gonna make a living etch-e-sketch

EVERY. SINGLE. CONSTRUCT. WORRRKKEEEEDDDDD

It's gonna take some time to get better photos, but here's a sneak peak. My blue chromoprotein/fluorescent protein fusion worked perfectly. It's so pretty and looks great in white light and UV.

It's crazy how long it took to make, and how expensive these 5 petri dishes are. This is what thousands of dollars of DNA printing works out to. But each one that works will eventually get added to our store for ya'll to play with. Colorful colonies hopefully monday 🤞

Of the new pieces of DNA I ordered, by far the one I'm the most excited for is one that should make bacteria colonies do this. In ~2 days I should know if the design worked and if I can replicate this pattern
