there is a custom procedural material too, Im using geonodes attributes to control the material, I thought itd be faster to setup if all the controls were grouped together

Unlikely, given the speed of their other projects. I think it'll be after blender 6, which is scheduled for a year from now.

I was trying to avoid this, but I did end up getting the best results using a bevel modifier to put a very small bevel on the edges, then I used the absolute of the normal with a color ramp to isolate the bevels. I used that for the highlight
