The case was brought by former Syrian employees, together with @asso-sherpa.bsky.social & @ecchr.bsky.social The company as a corporate entity and 4 of its former French executives will appear before the Paris CC on charges of financing terrorist organizations and violating international sanctions.

“Instead of investing in the protection of its Syrian employees during wartime, Lafarge was financing armed groups. Nine years after filing this complaint, we still hope for justice,” said Mohammad, a former Lafarge employee in Syria and plaintiff in the case.

The Syrian transitional authorities must assume their responsibility to prioritize the protection of civilians and keep them out of any fighting for power gains, and to resort to dialogue to resolve the conflict, not military solutions, to prevent further bloodshed and loss.

Last June, families of detainees gathered at the National Museum in Damascus for the exhibition “For Those Who Will Not Be Forgotten” by artist Rania Najdi, as part of ongoing efforts since the fall of Assad’s regime to uncover the truth and achieve justice.
