This trial covers only financing terrorism but the fight for accountability isn’t over: Lafarge still faces investigation for complicity in crimes against humanity, unprecedented for a corporation.

The case was brought by former Syrian employees, together with @asso-sherpa.bsky.social & @ecchr.bsky.social The company as a corporate entity and 4 of its former French executives will appear before the Paris CC on charges of financing terrorist organizations and violating international sanctions.

“Instead of investing in the protection of its Syrian employees during wartime, Lafarge was financing armed groups. Nine years after filing this complaint, we still hope for justice,” said Mohammad, a former Lafarge employee in Syria and plaintiff in the case.

No civilian in Aleppo, Suwayda, or anywhere in Syria should live under the terror of bombardment, killing, siege, and displacement after the fall of the tyrant's regime.

The Syrian transitional authorities must assume their responsibility to prioritize the protection of civilians and keep them out of any fighting for power gains, and to resort to dialogue to resolve the conflict, not military solutions, to prevent further bloodshed and loss.

Despite the months that have passed since the fall of the regime, these families continue to refuse silence, raising their voices everywhere to remind the world that there can be no peace and no stability without justice.

The struggle to learn the truth about their fate, to achieve justice, and to hold perpetrators accountable will not stop.

Thousands of families in Syria are still searching for their loved ones who have been forcibly disappeared in prisons and at the hands of Assad’s regime as well as all other parties to the conflict.

Last June, families of detainees gathered at the National Museum in Damascus for the exhibition “For Those Who Will Not Be Forgotten” by artist Rania Najdi, as part of ongoing efforts since the fall of Assad’s regime to uncover the truth and achieve justice.
