Family and friends of Syrian activist Ali Mustafa, forcibly disappeared by Assad since 2013, gathered in Damascus to commemorate the first anniversary of his arrest since the fall of the tyrant, and to demand truth and justice for Ali and all of Syria’s disappeared.

Justice cannot be biased & violations committed against the people of Syria cannot be attributed to a single perpetrator. Decision-makers, including Syrian Interim Government, must listen & meet the demands of Syria’s families to ensure a peaceful, just & dignified future for all.

These demands come after a presidential decree to establish the Transitional Justice Commission in Syria. Despite its importance, limiting the work of the committee to the crimes of Assad regime excludes victims & families of crimes committed by other de facto authorities.
