4) Looping back round, they can feel like they're divorced from the AP a bit. We've been sold on the AP as X but now we're playing Knifey Spoony and chatting up Hans the Goblin

3) It's hard as a player to gauge what the stakes are, do these skill checks actually have any consequences to them or are they just a way to meet NPCs, if we get hit with bad rolls do we miss out on something

2) It can come across as a just a rapid fire introduction to a bunch of NPCs which can be a heavy load for players and GMs

1) WoW, and M-S both devote a full chapter to the games which is can be a lot of time to get into the meat and potatoes of the AP. M-S does it better since it's a lot more varied in terms of events and better fits the feel/theme of the AP.

There's a couple of bugbears I have with it, not enough to make me dislike it as an opener but enough that as GM and player it can feel unfun after awhile
