A hierarchical ethno-state dominated by white Christians or a pluralistic democracy with egalitarian aspirations? That conflict was not resolved in 1776. It wasn’t settled in 1865. Unfortunately, the passing of the Civil Rights Act in 1964 didn’t usher in democratic consensus either.

Moral boosting speech to rouse the troops by going "we're f***ed, we're absolutely f***ed. we're doing awful, shameful things to hang on and they probably won't even work. it's absolutely terrible lads, you've no idea, it's so bad. anyway, until you hear different, business as usual"

It speaks to the way they have completely lost sight of who they are meant to be communicating to. 'Labour might lose' is not a public-facing message. It should never, ever, EVER be in a speech by a government minister.

The merits of the (abhorrent) policy aside, "If you don't like this you won't like what follows me" is just an insane way for a government to be talking with three years and nine months left until an election.

Bannon and Epstein snickering about how inflation “is a concept from the 50s … soooo dumb” is pretty poetic.

This blood-and-soil nationalism is the Right’s defining political project: The allegiance to the “real American” homeland overrides all else, and those who undermine it must not be tolerated. Legal status is irrelevant, citizenship is always conditional.

Wrote about it here:
Blood and Soil
The Right is committed to an idea of America as a white Christian homeland. They are determined to purge the nation and redraw the boundaries of the body politic

Does anyone think that Trump really wants to go through the discovery process when the case finally gets to court.../f

It's amazing how elite institutions still haven't learned, even after decades of examples, to never apologize when Trump launches his bogus attacks, to never show him weakness. To beat back Trump, strong resistance from the start where you reiterate how true you're initial position was is the key./

Yeah I seem to remember a reassignment. It is just wild that the reassignment involved him covering sexual assault.
