A buddy and I ran Dark Age CJFs at a tournament over the summer and had a total of 4 Ion Sparrows on the field (with Battle Armor attached, of course). It was so fun to watch people panic as this little guys just appeared halfway across the board doing massive damage

I think Outfoxed is in my top 3 BattleTech fiction list. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Fox Patrol, but as your review said, it does a great job balancing storytelling and the feel of a game of Classic BT. Plus, it’s a great description of what therapy’s like and its benefits. 5/5

Speaking of my poor spending habits, I would spend a dumb amount of money for a Fox Patrol Forcepack that had a Kit Fox, Ion Sparrow, Stormcrow C, Marauder, and Griffin. I’d honestly probably get like three of them haha

Just another random thought: so much of right wing politics comes from “lol we hurt that person. Isn’t that funny?” It’s easy to laugh at some rando you’ve been primed to laugh at. But you’ll get pissed if it’s your friend, even if you disagree with your friend.

I’m more likely to listen to and have a civil conversation with someone I disagree with if we respect each other for some *third thing* that we both enjoy. The internet has sort of ruined that “soft discourse between friends” in a way that has fucked up our civil society.

Of course I’m not saying “tolerate Nazis” or some shit like that. But I think it’s really dangerous to go anyone who is GOP = MAGA = Nazi because we lose out on people who are problematic (but who isn’t?) but I think are genuinely invested in being good people but have fallen for propaganda.

My big takeaways are that people should focus on friends and fellow hobby members. Humanize the shit out of each other. We all lose if we write off 50% of the population.

The thing that’s bonkers to me is that Universal Healthcare (hell, even something halfway as decent as that) would benefit everyone BUT insurance companies. I used to work on Hospital Billing software and eliminating insurance companies would save hospitals and patients a ton of money.

My wife and I swung through Portland for our honeymoon a couple years ago. You might call us casualties of Portland, as we both experienced the sugar sweats from the delicious Voodoo Donuts we picked up. Truly an act of war against our digestive systems. 10/10 would fight that battle again.
