my wife did the classic Souls rite of passage of setting the controller down and accidentally pressing R2…right in front of the main DkS1 blacksmith. But 1) there’s another accessible smith, and 2) she hadn’t killed Oswald, so she could pay to de-aggro the guy. Memorable mistake, elegant solutions.

I love that so much. DkS2 is so so good.

I think the good thing about the way Souls games handle this is you’re never truly “bricked” or soft-locked. You might miss a small gameplay variation, or you might need to go out of your way for a different solution, but it’s never “start over”
