The video. I could only do the first 2 of 3 stretches without a band, but I feel like a few sets of each before my run helped. Thanks for the rec, Doc!

That's a variable I hadn't considered 🤔 I decided to change something up, since my left leg (the one with the chatty IT band) was getting an uneven amount of punishment when running on the left side of the road. The fresh foam in the new shoes surely helped counter the harder sidewalks, at least

Deciding to learn 50 songs on drums in the two weeks after the race was a *choice* 😂 It put my usual race write-up on the backburner for a while.

I'd strongly recommend the race. Without spoilers, the RDs went above and beyond to take care of the runners on race day and before. They're locals, too.

All the cool kids are doing it! And also me! 😁

I do the same thing, except it's usually my shins! The shoes are the first to get the blame. And to be fair, they're usually long past their recommended mileage at that point

Glad you're enjoying it! Thank you for reading 🙌

Thank you for reading! This was the part that gave me the most writer's block, oddly enough. I think the race report will be easier to write. Start at the beginning and write all the way until the finish! 😁

Congratulations marathoner! Both on the race itself, and the journey that led you there

Absolutely! We have a long history of supporting each other and maintaining a healthy sibling rivalry in running. I'm just being a little cheeky 😆

I was just thinking on the drive to work that I should return to my pre-race leg strength exercises. It's been over a month since I've done strength work, and I feel like it would help

Glad you're healthy and on your way back. It's super common to lose motivation and question things after a big event. I get that way a few times a year. My best advice is to put fun first and keep setting goals. Explore new routes. Try to run every street in the nearest town, find a running buddy

Congrats! I want to do something similar after Cocodona next May, but part of me feels like I'd lose my mental edge and eventually slip into old habits again. It feels a little irrational, but I'M irrational 😅

Having the knowledge of this good year in my beck pocket will be a powerful reminder.

I've spent years on local historical research projects, so naturally I have a Barkley folder too. Book locations and courses year to year, race reports, tips and tricks... I know those hills and brambles would ruin me, but it's fun to imagine. See you at the gate in 2030 when we both get in? 😁
