The Dark is never empty.
The law applies at the discretion of the Leader. This is how authoritarian states function.
It's normal.
Just not in the US until now, at least not in the open.

...take the money and build what they want somewhere else?
These are global companies. They have no national allegiance, they don't care about nations. They could build these things in Africa or South Asia almost as easily as here. It's honestly baffling they aren't already doing that.

It's money that is possessed by companies and individuals.
They aren't going to invest it in those things.
Would that be a better world?
Probably.
But it's not this one.
Could the government force them to?
It could try, but that would be a complete change of system, and why wouldn't they just...

Running on 'we are going to kill the one sector of the economy keeping us from a second great depression' might not be such a great plan...
But I'm sure it would win on Bluesky.

It's hard for me to even consider him a villain most of the time now...

Likewise!

They are having a conversation!

So what if this isn't 'people think the economy sucks because the algorithm promotes negativity', but 'people realizing everyone else hates the existing system too because the algorithm promotes negativity'?
December 19, 2025 at 8:38 PM
Or are they seeing enough other people talk about things they have hated but put up with for years that the 'bubble' of 'it can't be that bad or everyone would be mad' is bursting.
Even before COVID, I remember more and more people being more and more fed up with the status quo.

I do agree that social media and group dynamics are at work here, but my question is as to in what way.
Are people gaslighting each other into thinking the economy is bad now...

This level of internal division feels deeply unstable and unsustainable.

Reality, as a concept, is melting.

This is really nice!

Very possibly.

I genuinely wonder if the AI knows saying this makes Musk look like the world's most delicate ego...

...an excuse to cave...
These people are not just cowards.
They are **idiots** with absolutely no connection to or understanding of the American public. They are dangerous, craven morons.
They need to go, but they will not, and the end of this country will be on them just as much as the GOP.

...group of elected officials gets replaced by people who might not be this stupid, craven, or malicious, and I would be willing to vote for any such replacement, but I'm not endorsing any of these current fucks with my vote ever again, and I hope others don't either.

...want to destroy us win, then people who lie about carrying but then do nothing to stop what's happening, who actually enable it while whining about how it's bad but they can't stop it.
I'm done with these people. I hope many other people are too. I hope the current geretocractic Democratic...

Looking back all the way to the 1840s, Liberals have ALWAYS been more afraid of the left than the right, and have always capitulated to the right to try to hold off the left.

...up to now has led Democratic leadership to completely fail to address this, and will continue to do so as long as the same people remain in charge of the party.
I thank them for the good things they have done, but the US government is not supposed to be a retirement home, and they need to go.
