Suffice it to say, the layoffs did not go over well-particularly because they were executed on Yom Kippur. Some staffers, I'm told, were observing the holiday when they received word they'd lost their jobs-an unusual move, given that employers don't typically inform staffers that they're being laid off during a religious observance. I'm told some Post employees complained to the paper's human resources chief, Wayne Connell, about the matter and were told that he would speak to O'Neal about it.

So most of the Teams emojis are more upsetting than other versions but the melty head of despair has the opposite problem. It looks like a cheery little yellow squid and doesn’t convey 🫠 at all

How they did it So-called researchers at the conservative Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) bought access to a health insurance claims database, then simply labeled whatever they wanted as "abortion complications." ABORTION, EVERY DAY 3 of 4 Not adding up 40,960 of the women they say encountered "serious adverse effects" were counted simply for visiting an ER-not because they were treated there. 49,169 were counted as having "other" complications that these 'researchers' wouldn't define. Mental health conditions were also counted without evidence that they were related to abortion. 4 of 4 A flawed study Digging deeper, there are even more methodological issues with the study: -lacking peer-review -only including patients with insurance-covered abortions—which isn't the norm -including people who may have taken mifepristone without misoprostol, which means it wouldn't reflect the standard FDA-approved regimen -including patients who received mifepristone for miscarriage management.

Bass also took heat from far-left activists online, who accused the mayor of cutting the fire department's budget in order to pay for a costly new contract with the city's police. Also weighing in against her was Patrick Soon-Shiong, the politically idiosyncratic owner of the Los Angeles Times, who echoed the attack, posting on X that "the Mayor cut LA Fire Department's budget by $23M." That assertion is wrong. The city was in the process of negotiating a new contract with the fire department at the time the budget was being crafted, so additional funding for the department was set aside in a separate fund until that deal was finalized in November. In fact, the city's fire budget increased more than $50 million year-over-year compared to the last budget cycle, according to Blumenfield's office, although overall concerns about the department's staffing level have persisted for a number of years.
