Was a reason given for the third axle? I can only imagine it was to distribute weight on lighter branch lines or even up the axle load with the B end bogie?

Not removed, just a section of the line moved north out of the aerodrome. The line is still very much active connecting Port Botany to the interstate rail network. The line turns 100 years old next year.

Also had a reversing loop at Griffith to get around any issues too. Quite a lot of planning went into it.
