...and you don’t create nuclear waste, or spend £50 billion! You also avoid the carbon cost of building a nuclear power station, and giving the Chinese access to our infrastructure. Why is no-one interested in building quality homes? What's not to like?!

This would ALSO avoid locking in 9 million tonnes of CO2 annually (300k new homes forecast to be built annually, houses lasting for 60 years. 0.5 tonnes of excess CO2 per house per annum).....

Sizewell C is going to cost £50 billion, and will save 9 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

Properly installing dry-lining in new houses, avoiding air infiltration behind the plaster board, would cost nothing and produce warmer, healthier homes that are cheaper to run....

Dry-lining fail - meeting to discuss specific cases - Friday 21 November 2025. if this is of interest to you, contact tom@thermalimageuk.co.uk for further details.

Fantastic few days on Fair Isle carrying out air tightness test on superb new Fair Isle Bird Observatory. Amazing scenery & wildlife, friendly locals & staff -I can't recommend a visit highly enough.

Smoke testing and thermography work well with @retrotec blower door fans to find points of air leakage!

Every picture tells a story- Solid walls, 1950s solid radiator pipes, student halls, single glazing, no radiator valves-all or nothing! So windows open in February to purge heat. Radiator pipes so hot you can see them through the walls!

In industrial/ commercial units, air tightness tests can fail not due to the building fabric, but due to leaky roller doors. Using retrotec fans (-ve pressure), and thermal imaging (and smoke - not shown) leakage points can readily be located.

Air leakage detection - negative pressure, warmer outside than inside #retrotec

Latest technology, top quality fans from retrotec , and a little lateral thinking.

Thermal Image UK is proud to be a member and supporter of the @passivhaustrust.bsky.social

Building new homes to Passivhaus standard, can be the single action that reduces the most carbon over time relative to the social barriers to change.

It should be the #1 climate action globally.

Programme For Government 2025 - a new set of climate promises by the Scottish Government. What about the old promises from previous years? - 2019 - Nicola Sturgeon "£500m for bus infrastructure" - now scrapped. "Motorway bus lanes" - now scrapped. "World leading climate targets" - now scrapped. ?

Community climate action- 3 x 57 seater Mercedes Tourismo coaches moving 15,000 pax per month between Strathaven, Stonehouse & Glasgow-taking thousands of car journeys off the road www.CAStrathaven.org

Why has the Scottish Government given up on transport climate targets? Together we can do this!

Last winter, we recorded this sub-zero temperature - INDOORS - in a house in Scotland. The thermal image highlights the effects of a cold external draught from under the fridge.

For thermography, it's worth checking the credentials of the surveying company and surveyor - and the PCN register from BINDT is a good place to start.

Fit-out contractors adding ventilation to a shell unit, surprisingly often cut a square hole for a round duct, without questioning the impact on air tightness, or sealing it again. In Scotland, retail premises are tested at shell stage & again after fit-out specifically to pick up issues like this.

Thermal Image UK is a member of the Passivhaus Trust @passivhaustrust.bsky.social and fully supports the ambition to increase the number of houses built to this energy efficient standard. Warm, comfortable, draught free homes that are low cost to heat -what's not to like!

Community car hire from @castrathaven www.CAStrathaven.org .Owning one less car in your family is one of the biggest carbon reducing actions you can take. Public transport/active travel where possible, but car available when you need one. Embodied carbon of car is up to 50% of its lifetime emissions

Understanding reflection and emissivity, is key to interpretation of thermal images. For more information, contact Tom or Tania at www.thermalimageuk.com

Blower door from Retrotec is not only great for air tightness testing, it’s also highly recommended when carrying out thermography surveys too.
