Currently reading. I'd love more recommendations of books about migration/immigration, both human and animal/plant around the world. If you know of any, let me know!

Sometimes all the mugs are dirty. And I'm lazy. Ramekin to the rescue.

A rare picture of me, from Camp Ripper in Iraq.

Spent some time in one of my favorite local spots this afternoon. The coastline here is so pretty! And always changing!

1/2 Just finished up reading How To Fall In Love With The Future: A Time Traveller's Guide To Changing The World by Rob Hopkins. Definitely recommend it!

I admit, my own cynicism made it challenging to immerse myself in his ideas initially. Especially given our current political climate.

Results: Pork was far too dry, but it's still pretty delicious. I forgot how much I absolutely LOVE fried plantains.

Kids were not sold on dinner, and are doing their own thing tonight. Can't win them all!

Dinner tonight is one of my occasional mishmashes that somehow tastes good, and is fairly cheap to make, pulling from pantry staples.

Just pulled a rather pretty apple pie out of the oven. Kids' request on the way home from the woods, and I couldn't say no.

Got outdoors for a little bit with both teens this afternoon. Everything was very blown about and soggy after the wet windy weather the past few days, but oh so pretty! I love the green mossy woods here in the PNW.

Cold rainy days call for warm baked goods. Improvised some cardamom apple rolls this afternoon. Hopefully the kids like them. They turned out quite pretty and smell amazing!

Very excited to read this tonight! The introduction by Hunt is the kind authors dream of and the first chapter so far has been exquisite. It's going to be a very good evening.

Lovely little walk to the beach this morning. Got to watch an eagle fishing at the mouth of the river.

Banana bread in the oven, rain on the roof, hot coffee in my mug, new book in my lap. Saturday is starting off strong.

Dinner's ready, I think.

The only thing burning in Portland last night was the gorgeous sunset from my friend's porch...

War-ravaged Portland was so brutal this weekend. I was forced to drink rum cocktails (with edible "money") outdoors at a food truck in the sunshine.

I barely survived.

Furlough Day 2: Took myself for a lovely rainy walk in the woods to see a waterfall. Then enjoyed an excellent lunch, and a little nap.

Tomorrow I'm doing some work on the house.

Today really has big "I should schedule a new tattoo" vibes.

Giving one of these a go today. It's rather nice, and I'm feeling much more mellow.

Medicine has arrived. The sinus pressure in my face is finally feeling better after so much hot sauce and hot steaming broth.

Laying low with an easy rest day, still not feeling well, so I'm going to spend a few hours reading The Mushroom at the End of the World: On the Possibility of Life in Capitalist Ruins by Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing. I've been curious about this one for a bit.
