I keep thinking of that line from Steven Universe: "Why do I never ask any follow up questions!?" IT HAPPENS SO MANY TIMES IN STORIES! People get swept up in the moment and forget to ask totally sensible things.

Apparently the studio said it didn't feel right to end the first episode before Subaru died so they just made it really long to reach that point, lol. You are right though, the studio is crazy, but they do good work!

Yeah the 1st season got turned into a series of Director's Cuts so they're ordered differently on Crunchyroll, but the rest of the series counts from how the series initially was when Season 1 was a bunch of half hour episodes.

Meanwhile there are some powers I think would be really fun to play with but that I could never do hero/villain stuff with due to the power not really granting any significant durability/survivability, and I fear pain/death. So any heroics require a power that makes bullets ineffective.

Like Vandal Savage from DC comics has the kind of immortality I think I'd like, but I wouldn't want that to be the power I have as a Superhero/villain, nor would it be fun to mess around with. I just want to not worry about health and have more time for doing fun things.

I will go there with you! Yen Press releasing a book every 4 to 6 months while they come out every 3 months in Japan has been infuriating me to the point I'm contemplating trying to learn Japanese just so I read the Light Novels faster!

But I guess while some of the chapters in the game have you asking "Was this village worth saving" this is the one that had me asking "did we even save anything" even though we totally did save one person. But since that one child has such little characterization it doesn't outweigh the loss?

I don't know why this one part of the game sticks with me so heavily compared to everything else. The game has plenty of moments of good people making sacrifices that are rendered futile due to the actions of selfish or cowardly people who sometimes get away without any punishment at all...

And the entire story could have continued without him. If he'd also been cursed, or if he died before the protagonists found the village, they could have been able to find the cure, find the child, and help the child get to a new village anyway. Nothing in the game itself is lost if he's taken out.

Cuz it's not like he's going to live long enough to raise the kid or anything, and while they're from the same village they're also not that close or anything from before the curse hit? So the old man gets a "hey maybe the decades of pain you went through weren't completely useless maybe idk"

I don't want to downplay the uplifting part of the old man realizing that at least his efforts saved ONE person, and getting to help that child cope with the loss of his friends and family and help the child move on, but like, the only solace is knowing one person from the village might end up okay.

And like... That's it. You manage to find a secret tunnel where a child had been hiding when the curse hit, so the old man finds some purpose in helping the one other survivor find a new place to live, but the man spent decades alone with nothing but the reminder of all the people he failed.
