Ever since I was a kid I've always seen his games as a toy box. You'll stumble upon modes that serve no purpose beyond being novel mixed in with stuff like full vehicle customization. He has such a respect for creating a satisfying experience beyond the core game play which I adore.

Super Mario 64 makes me feel so many more emotions than just joy. The technical limitations of the time enhance the abstract nature of the game, where so much is implied but not much is explained.

To this day I don't think there is any game that can elicit the sense of whimsy I feel just moving around Peach's Castle. Galaxy 1 is a close contender but I consider that game to have more of a melancholic tone. Galaxy 2 is whimsical, and so is Odyssey, but both games aren't subtle about it.
