Albuquerque resident. Person. Sometimes a bit lost. Still believe in humanity, still hoping we can do better.

Gardens, bikes, some software engineering.
Speaking of… Albuquerque has an absolutely legendary play ground.

Not like I’m against recreational paths. Health, community, activity spaces are great. Just wish as much was given to utilitarian infrastructure.

There was a schism in the city planning for bike paths. One group wanted bicycle safety and paths for commuting. The other wanted more recreational paths. Given the length and money dedicated to “the loop” it’s pretty easy to see who won.

Not challenging but really curious. Are they full MAGA? How do you know? I always thought the way they treated their employees was too good for full MAGA. I always assumed more traditional NM R. Which is still pretty bad, so 🤷

Ahhhh this makes no sense. I was thinking of Pittsburg 🫠

We’ve both built our identity around long green fruits that some think are vegetables?

I don’t read this as you lost a lot of time in traffic. I read it as you just survived a demolition derby.

A primary is never bad, but I’d vote for Deb Haaland.

Yeah, the state of the US right now has me reading a lot of non-fiction, policy and history books. It’s almost too hard to justify escapism. But my audio book backlog is all fantasy and sci-fi still.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll check it out for sure. Going to be a while before I fit it in though. :/

It’s the first in the trilogy that setup the universe. I think you’ll really like it based on you saying that you like a good “revelation” 🫠

Snow Crash and Neuromancer are cyber punk canons for sure. Arthur C. Clark is, loosely, more for hard sci-fi and space opera.

Maybe an obvious one but, Arthur C. Clark is mine. Especially Rendezvous with Rama (1st book) and Childhood’s End.

Have you read Revelation Space?
February 2, 2025 at 1:16 AM
I haven’t read Adrian Tchaikovsky. Would you recommend Children of Time as a starting point?
February 2, 2025 at 1:15 AM
I haven’t read Permafrost but of the more recent standalone books Eversion was great.

Revelation Space. Still one of my all time favorite Sci-fi series. No one is “good” every character is conflicted, some are trying their best, some are trying for redemption. The tech is so well thought out.

Wait… what happened with Trek? Far right ideology, selling to cops?
