SpaceX CEO Elton Musk is now reported to be auditing NASA, a federal agency with which he is in direct competition.

THIS IS AN ACTUAL CRIME.

And not in the sense of like "that ought to be a crime!" but LITERALLY A FEDERAL CRIME that he is just doing in public

This is exactly what I want.
New Mexicans want:

- An end to mass incarceration.
- Solutions for the root causes of crime in our communities.
- Accountability for police when they abuse their power.

@mattcameron.bsky.social On an @openargs.bsky.social episode you mentioned a book about immigration. It came along with a comment to the effect of “we’re importing colonialism.” Do you remember the book?

I’d like to say this cannot happen. But it can, and it shouldn’t. Call your senators!

Won’t be the first or last time this type of legislation comes up. But something like this is desperately needed, even if it’s not far enough for me.

The shadow that hangs over all of 2024 is a failure to keep Trump from returning to office, paired with ongoing facilitation of mass slaughter. Somewhat hard to look back at everything else, even the moments of hope when this did not seem inevitable, and think "here's what went well."

Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

There's still time to pass the PRESS Act, which would give journalists critical protections from government spying. You can speak up through our action center with just a few clicks:
Tell Congress To Pass the PRESS Act Now
The Protect Reporters from Exploitive State Spying (PRESS) Act is a long overdue federal shield law that provides protections to journalists against government surveillance and forced disclosure of confidential sources. Journalists shouldn’t be forced to choose between protecting their confidential sources or going to prison. But the reality is that both Democratic and Republican administrations have secretly subpoenaed reporters’ emails and phone records to hunt down their sources. That chills essential newsgathering and whistleblowing, and it needs to stop now.
