but I also think that the system never did a good job of allowing me to look at another guardian and be able to gauge their level of involvement/proficiency.
Now, all of a sudden it's revealed that the quality of your loot is in part determined by your GR?

..displaying your proficiency with the game. That seeing another guardian at a specific rank, would give you a sense of their level of involvement with the game, and a loose idea of their mastery of it.
Not only does my current (involuntary) rank of 2, do nothing to reflect my proficiency.. 3/

For clarity, I feel like the GR system is confused. it was originally touted as a way to help introduce newer players to the game, which I think the first 5 ranks do a decent job at. However the other reason you guys gave for the system at launch, was that it would be a way of.. 2/

It's also a test of understanding Asexual people. The very existence of aesthetic attraction that is subjective, means that attraction to someone that you find beautiful cannot simply be explained away by a biological imperative.

Can you see someone who is unattractive to you, but put yourself in the hypothetical shoes of someone who would find them attractive, and thus conclude that they are beautiful? 2/
