thrilled! I've LONG said the FF is Best when portrayed as explorers who happen upon heroics, and that's essentially what happens. It's a REALLY good old-school sci-fi yarn!

OK, I'm gettin' some sleep now. Will look for your replies tomorrow! G'night!

Have you seen it? Marvel really fumbled on the marketing: 1. They VASTLY underestimated the impact & online marketing of Gunn's Superman. 2. Most people i know who saw FF, expected a big action-y superhero movie b/c of the trailer (as did i). When it wasn't that, they were disappointed. Me? I was👇

You mean the actors specifically? B/c i mention TFF: First Steps above.
Re: the actors: Was not a fan of the casting for any of them, but the movie cleverly addressed it, and I ended up rooting for them by the time they had their 1st confrontation w/Galactus! Ended up being a favorite MCU film.

Found my original post on T-Bolts (Below). IMO, their best film in QUITE a while was TFF:FS—old school sci-fi w/a LOT of Kirby love & a 1960s space age aesthetic... plus their best script in a long time. I went in expecting to hate it, and it won me over.

Finally saw #THUNDERBOLTS. Tight script; not a single moment or scene goes to waste. I liked the way The Sentry (& his mind) was portrayed.
Was disappointed in: The action. Fairly mundane, not engh moments specific to THESE characters (e.g., Yelena in the climax).
Arcs: They all had the same story.

Well, it depends on what's important to you. If you just outright love the MCU, you'll likely enjoy it. If you're a little more discerning, it's a perfectly serviceable film.

The script is tight, save for a nonsensical cold open, and the action is fairly mundane, but there's a lot of good too.

No, no, T-Bolts flopped. It made only ~$380M internationally. That means they MIGHT've broken even (a film isn't profitable unless it makes 1.5x its costs, and figure its $180M production budget PLUS marketing...380 is no good).
Killing characters no one cares about is a great way to clean house!
January 8, 2026 at 4:08 AM
No, probably not, but if my planned lead characters were the biggest flop the studio produced, I sure would. Clearly, no one is gonna miss them. And you definitely gotta get Sentry off the board one way or another.
January 8, 2026 at 2:16 AM
Sorry, I definitely didn't mean to come off as attacking. I just don't think that's where they're going with it based on the FF movie.
January 8, 2026 at 2:05 AM
come here and kill the T-Bolts, including Sentry, establishing himself as a real threat, and forcing the Avengers back together.

Well, Kang didn't lose the day b/c of Ant-Man, Kang lost b/c a., that movie was embarrassing and b., the actor is a violent narcissist.

But I think Doom will be established as a friend of the FF. Act 1 will have him reveal his true nature to them, sending them to OUR world to warn us, & he'll 👇👇

The signs for an idea Feige admitted they had AFTER Ant-Man 3 failed at the B.O.? Err, if you say so....

That's hardly the slow boil of Thanos. But, end of the day, it's the storytelling — if his intro in the FF universe, which i imagine is more or less where we're gonna start (or perhaps with that Thunderbolts credits scene) is done well, it can all still work.
January 8, 2026 at 1:51 AM
No, he's coming from another world — the one the FF inhabits/inhabited.

It's the best part!!!

Will do!

Yes, Elsbeth and Poker Face both borrow a LOT from Columbo. Matter of fact, b/c of the latter's success on Peacock, & Columbo being the autoplay show that followed, Columbo got a whole new slew of fans on Peacock and became a success all over again!
Maybe I'll do a script share on 1st Page Friday.

On edge was my personal take.
January 7, 2026 at 9:51 PM
I mentioned recently (hopefully not to you so that I'm not being repetitive) that I wrote a Columbo reboot. Was just a writing exercise to see if I could come up w/something different while retaining the DNA of the original. Now, i love it and would kill, er MURDER, to get NBC to give it a shot.

Agreed! But he's getting up there on age. A younger Rockford works better, considering how often dude gets punched.

That does seem to be what it's about, the music cues as well, but they're saying the confident attitude of Garak and touchy-feely stuff may have had subtext.

I want to know if show creators have commented on it, esp'ly since the doctor's rep of being a ladies' man never really made sense to me.
