It took Youtube just 2 weeks to learn the 'new account' users preferences to the same level as 'existing account' users.

If you're a new creator, there is no alternative to Youtube for audience building.

On a macro level, a TikTok shutdown just means a mass migration to other platforms but on a micro level this will change the game for individual creators.

Every platform has its own quirks and preferences:
1. What users expect on that platform
2. Whether to use hashtags
3. How to write the accompanying copy
4. How the content is discovered

Try an experiment. Write a short post, and publish it on every platform you can access.

Chances are the results will be wildly different across platforms. What does well here might do poorly on X. And what does well on X might sink without a trace on Threads.

You're right in a way. Stats actually also indicate that at least in developed countries there is far less drugs and alcohol involved as well. Instead, sales of 0% alcohol are booming. Definitely a correlation there!

Gen X was probably peak vice :)
