It would have as much impact on his prosecution and sentencing as would a pardon from the Emperor of Japan. “Lol that’s funny. Maybe you can use the pardon to wipe your ass in county jail.”

If “moving left” means “supporting the civil rights and voting rights act and losing the south as a result” I agree. That was the substantive shift, cause, and effect.

At least not in the way I meant. They were nice to me because I was a white guy who grew up in same town and shared many of same experiences. If you weren’t a member of the in-group they weren’t nice. They feared and resented you.

I was convinced all these nice people I grew up with just needed the right message. It must be our fault that they are voting for fascists. They must not understand in some fundamental way or I wasn’t explaining right.

Fundamental problem is that Ezra is showing far more empathy for Kirk’s fans than he shows for those who were the victims of Kirk’s rhetoric.
Why? Because he has a lot more in common with most of Kirk’s fans.
