Privately funding it will be hard. I feel D&C provides something of a different challenge for anything buzzy down here. Batteries on the branches might be the easiest option, I think we discussed previously though. All about milage.

For the South Western it would be of great use the batteries. As you say, during isolations gives way of keeping going.

Fair. The article said 80km of third rail sections to charge them up. Electric islands do seem a good idea. Cheaper than delivering whole electrification, it is a half measure though. 3rd rail as well you don't have to worry about panto lifting and dropping.
