One of my better unused ideas: a friend had recently joined a band, but things were tense bec/ they kept arguing over the band name. I suggested Impending Breakup over Artistic Differences (w/IBAD or The Impending Breakup as short versions).
My friend liked the idea, the rest of the band nixed it.

When I was 7 I took a tour of Marvel comics' office in NYC. They used to do tours once a week. There's two things I remember vividly to this day:
1. The printing process (at the time) shown w/ a page and a cover along the way. First the lines, then the yellow wash, then two layers of color… (1/2)

Sometimes when I'm teaching the family a new card game I feel like I might as well be playing Go Johnny Go Go Go Go
The first time an author posted one of these I was confused. I've invited a few authors to my book club and I don't spend any time talking about their book. I figure they know it already. I'm too busy apologizing for asking and trying to convince them we're worth the time.
book PR scam copy has gotten just better enough in the last year that it drives me insane. I can't handle the extra five seconds of sleuthing before sending to spam!

C-3 has received royal assent, meaning it is now the law of the land and I am officially Canadian but for the paperwork
This will be a bit obscure for many, but now that C-3 has passed the Senate, I am one step closer to being officially Canadian, something I gave up hope of happening about 25 years ago.

This came up in a forum mostly for lost Canadians, but apparently Benin now offers Beninese nationality (& citizenship) to descendants of enslaved Africans. By some reports, you only need to show lineage to the early 20th century. Sharing this for folks who might want dual-citizenship.

Looking at the 🇨🇦 Parliament where the budget passed CPC & NDP both played chicken and then blinked to avoid a snap election, while BQ DGAF (or JMF?).
Meanwhile in 🇺🇸, congress consistently doesn't pass budgets with minimal political consequence. Our system might not be as great as my teachers said.

Took a trip to @nwmoca.bsky.social The museum opens in December, but I saw it today because I'm a time traveler (or they're having a soft open).
Anyway, the highlight was the @helioscopepdx.bsky.social section, because it had a lot of local artists I already love.

took the gothling to The Skeleton Key Odditorium yesterday. This might be a weird thing to say, but it was a lot more like a museum than I expected. Detailed plaques w/actual history and stuff. I think I was expecting more of a goth Pecularium (which I also love)

Lazarus is oddly high concept for a Harlan Coben adaptation. Not sure it works. Generally those are fun to watch but don't really hold up if you think about things too much.
