Adding too that it seems like in a lot of these instances, people will view characters within a vacuum. I saw somebody say that a creator was mischaracterizing their own character because they started writing them differently and it made me question if anybody knows about character development?

I don't even blame them anymore because in japan you have toby fox, the creator of undertale, doing weekly interviews and there's specialty cocktail bars for hazbin hotel, meanwhile here if he accidentally retweets fanart or viv likes the wrong post it's parasocial screaming for DAYS

I find a lot of media with passionate fanbases can be really hard to engage in discussion for all these reasons. A lot of people can’t handle nuanced, flawed (sometimes deeply) characters.
