The Dodgy Part of Town and Playing with My Balls

Obviously one of the places I had to go and visit was Wenceslas Square., focal point of many of the demonstrations and revolutions over the years. It left me slightly underwhelemed. Maybe I was expecting too much. Maybe the history of the place is more impressive than the location itself. More likely was the fact the whole centre of the street was blocked off by roadworks.

Letná Park

I got a tram up the big hill to Letná Park. The park overlooks the entire city and some of the views there were fantastic. I took an aimless walk through the park, with the intention of coming across the Prague Metronome. The weather was dull, but at least I wasn't sweating to death and…

I took an aimless walk through the park, with the intention of coming across the Prague Metronome. The weather was dull, but at least I wasn't sweating to death and it wasn't raining. On the way I passed a pretty lake (pond?) and a very ornate looking building that puts the tatty old tea shops in English parks to shame.

Walk from Old Town to Lesser Town

Whilst I have an interest in the macabre, weird and wonderful, I still had to do the big tourist things. The good thing about Prague is there is a big overlap between my interests and the big tourist sights. I took the tram to the Old Town Sqaure and began at the…
Walk from Old Town to Lesser Town
Whilst I have an interest in the macabre, weird and wonderful, I still had to do the big tourist things. The good thing about Prague is there is a big overlap between my interests and the big tourist sights. I took the tram to the Old Town Sqaure and began at the famous Aristonomical clock. There was a large Easter market in the Old Square, so I went to one of the stalls to get a sausage.

Czech Inn

As hostels go, this is by far and away one of the better ones I have visited. Apart from being quite comfortable as far as accommodation like this can be it was very cheap. After checking in (I image the staff can to regret the naming of this place very quickly) I selected my bunk and…

Travel

Travel is quite dull to be honest. Not the actual experience of going to a new place but the physical act of sitting in a fart-filled vehicle whilst your arse gets transported to A to B is dull as fuck. Presumably this is the reason they never show Micheal Palin eating a can of Pringles on…

Presumably this is the reason they never show Micheal Palin eating a can of Pringles on a plane, or trying to judge when best to disturb the person next to him so he can go for a piss.

Portillo’s Trousers

My mother, always taking an interest in what I do, messaged me to let me know of a travelogue program about Prague that was on, right now, that I might enjoy. Not being a fan of travel programs, I was not excited. And even less so when she told me it was on Channel 5. For…

Not being a fan of travel programs, I was not excited. And even less so when she told me it was on Channel 5. For non-brits, Channel 5 is a very cheap and nasty TV channel, with output that is, to put it mildly, normally absolute arse juice.

I’ve had go to an international airport but this is the first time I have seen a physical copy of @bylinetimes.bsky.social in the wild.

Planning

Shit Creek Without a Paddle Like any right-minded lazy sod living in 2025 my first port of call when planning the trip was to ask ChatGPT. I remember travel agents being a thing not long ago and have no idea when humans decided that a person who might know what they were talking about was…

I remember travel agents being a thing not long ago and have no idea when humans decided that a person who might know what they were talking about was less preferable to a robot who got its information from God knows where.
