I'm 50-something year old, born just before Apollo 8 left Earth to visit the Moon for the first time. I'm a husband of over 20 years, and a father to a son with an IEP. I'm a software engineer who loves many things musical, mechanical, and electronic.
I got a ninth version of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, this time with a new 2-channel remaster and a multichannel Atmos mix. Am I crazy? Perhaps, but both mixes sound great to me. For more information, check out my Substack.

I got a new DAC for the sound system on my desk in the Spring of 2025 with the hope that I could eventually listen to music from SACDs at my desk without using a Blu-ray player. Along the way, I discovered that I'd already owned a DAC capable of doing the same thing for over a decade.
I need a new DAC... and an old one.
Cue the parody of the Weird Al parody of Huey Lewis: "I want a new DAC. One that works like it should. One with a beautiful soundstage. One that sounds good."

I got the new Foxtrot SACD from Analogue Productions as a part of the Atlantic 75 series. I compare it to a number of other versions, going back to first pressing U.S. vinyl. Getting a good version of this album has been hard in the U.S. and I think the new SACD is a great choice.

A comparison of six different versions of the album Abacab by Genesis. They range from 1981 first pressing vinyl to the Atlantic 75 SACD that came out a week ago. All six versions are generally good, but some shine more in the details. Though loud, the 2007 SACD is probably my favorite.

It took me a week longer than I originally wanted to collect my thoughts about the new Atlantic 75 SACD of A Trick Of The Tail. I think this SACD is a real advance for this album.

A comparison of four different versions of the album Living In The Past ranging from first US pressing vinyl from 1972 to the latest Blu-ray Audio re-mixed and re-mastered by Steven Wilson from July 2025. Wilson’s re-working of the album reveals hidden textures and makes it a more pleasant listen.

Red beans and rice (from a long recipe on a postcard) and beignets (from the Cafe du Monde mix) for Mardi Gras.

I bought the red beans at 9am. The dish was finished at 8pm. It was a long day, but oh so good.

I wonder if there is any guilt involved in these votes. Mitch McConnell could have ended the President's political career after 6-Jan-2021. He could have treated impeachment seriously. Instead, he punted it to the DOJ and the courts, who ended up letting Donald Trump go and granted him immunity.

I think this does a great job explaining what water fluoridation does and why it is important. I think it also think that it misses a few points that help disarm the anti-fluoridation argument:
