Cooking up a special treat for the kids in my Archaeology of Institutions class. Reprising the turnip pudding from last time and trying a new dish, rice porridge. Both made to Bentham's specifications although scaled down a lot because experience tells me that no one wants more than a tiny taste🏺🗃️🍽️
A saucepan of boiled rice with raisins and a pyrex dish with unidentifiable brown contents (turnip pudding - mashed turnips baked with peasemeal, treacle, caraway seeds and milk). They taste significantly worse than they look.

Saw some awesome glass blowing at the Jamestown glasshouse today. Having just finished a huge project on archaeological glass, it was great to see some of the methods in action 🏺

Fantastic to visit Monticello last week and get a look at the archaeology lab as well as the excavation happening as part of ADA upgrades. Particularly exciting to learn about the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery database and training 🏺🗃️
An archaeological trench is cut into the red clay of a hill, with Monticello looking on in the background. Behind the trench are a series of wheelbarrows and sieves, while plywood boards line the front. In the trench itself you can see modern services as well as rocks and artifacts sticking out of the wall.

For #ShowUsYourKnits colourwork edition I'm working on some I Heart Socks by Stone Knits in random stash yarn. Although as usual my tension could use some work.
