Of course this means that horror themed beat em ups are awesome, such as classics like Splatterhouse and the original version of Night Slashers, and a new game is in the works that calls to mind the best of classic beat em ups and horror and Halloween in gaming concepts.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will be getting its first content update this week on November 27, 2025. The update will let players take on fearsome enemies to earn additional in-game rewards including two new weapon, whilel also adding a new Sync Strike for Zelda and Calamo and more. Before FromSoftware was famous for the Soulslike genre, the developer had another RPG that is well regarded by fans. The King's Field series was a unique one, with first person RPG gameplay with a unique identity, but not all of the mechanics have aged well. Numerous indie devs have been inspired by King's Field and have made their own games serving as spiritual sequels, but none have managed to scratch that itch, with most falling into the same pitfalls, more on that later.
