Inti Creates has long been a force in 2D action games, but not every game they have made has landed well. Yes the Gal Guardian games have been great, but there have been some games that have given people pause.  When Inti Creates announced its first Switch 2 game, Majogami ( Also on Switch 1 and Steam), I was interested, but also a bit concerned the developer was losing its touch.

Before FromSoftware was famous for the Soulslike genre, the developer had another RPG that is well regarded by fans. The King's Field series was a unique one, with first person RPG gameplay with a unique identity, but not all of the mechanics have aged well. Numerous indie devs have been inspired by King's Field and have made their own games serving as spiritual sequels, but none have managed to scratch that itch, with most falling into the same pitfalls, more on that later.

I need to be fully transparent here when I say that Retroware might just be my favourite indie publisher right now. The company has worked with indie devs to release greats like Iron Meat, Prison City, Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit, and will be releasing the upcoming Toxic Crusaders beat em up title and The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest.
