Honestly, with how much more there is to do, while I'm definitely glad I chose this project (since I've learned so much more from this), I definitely do wish this came at a less hectic time, especially since all the big deadlines for papers and stuff are kicking in right now.

Working on another level; this one focuses around the player hopping from platform to platform with a big, floaty jump while navigating between the projectiles shot at you as you ascend downwards. It looks pretty default right now, though I'm hoping to change that soon.

I changed the model. Fans of Bugcat Capoo may perhaps realize that yes, this is Capoo, only poorly colored. I like the model and how dorky he looks, especially when clutching the pistol.

Initially, the project was called "Things Go Boom", but after making this "Fish Enemy with a Gun" I've decided to call it "Deep Blue Boom" (tentative title). Any title suggestions are welcome. The fish is fully operational and has been taught the meaning of violence.

The projectile part was driving me insane. I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to get the bullets to generate from the spawn point and travel in the specific direction the camera was pointing until I was told that transform.forward existed. Then, problem solved. Joy.

I've begun work on a project, which involves firing projectiles from the first person. Here's a quick look at the initial stages of the project, Day 1: Attaching a pistol to our beloved camera/character controller and teaching it where to aim and shoot.

More behind the scenes! I made prefabs out of the levels and the bars, before recoloring them - as you can see when the structures are compared, they are really similar. It's just prefabs being reuploaded into different scenes and then unpacked and altered and recolored.

Some pictures of behind the scenes of "Dodging Responsibilities, the Game". This is one of those levels that took up a lot of scripts - although the scripts were not very long, it's the first time I ever used so many of them. They were really similar, though, so it wasn't too bad.

I'm pleased to announce that the cutesy little abstract bullet hell "Dodging Responsibilities, the Game" has been released! Try it out, let me know how it feels and maps out! The only thing it's missing is Megalovania... and lasers...

I started designing another 2D game, based on the player dodging obstacles that come at them in a box. I'm not sure how other people do it, but I went with the simplest option of creating a monstrosity and having it move in one direction. Then repeat. Lots of simple scripts, though.

Last week, we started work on collision detection by making a Pong-like. Really interesting to think about how there are so many ways to "create" collision, either with assigned bounds that mimic "bouncing" (as seen here), or with colliders acting as triggers for other things

Started learning some basic key input stuff and set up a controller for the next project last week. It's a pretty simple WASD format for the time being, but it works pretty well.

Recursive is now out on Itch! I really enjoyed making the text game and scripting its dialogue options and what would happen. Give it a whirl and leave a comment letting me know what you think!

Welcome to Artefact Storage plays like you're scrolling through an old archive on a 90s computer about SCPs. I really enjoyed the feel and atmosphere of the game itself, the creepy atmosphere it gives, and I really recommend it as an experience!

Really enjoyed Shylencce's Quick Quest! You should check it out, it does some really creative interactions with 3D objects for a 2D text game. I really loved the effort that went into designing the objects, the first-person perspective, and more!

Scripting Part 3: My Brain Empty
A coin flipper script that will load in alternative scenes depending on whether heads or tails is flipped a certain number of times first, coupled with "You win" or "You lose". This was probably the most complicated scripting thing I've ever done.

I played the game "You Are Jeff Bezos" recently, and it made me laugh out loud many times. All in all, it's a masterpiece that's able to convey the utterly nonsensical, incomprehensible size of a billionaire's wealth whilst also retaining an amazing sense of humor at the same time.

Scripting, Pt 2 Electric Boogaloo
Some basic input stuff like setting up a key input tester and a timer that will load in other scenes in Unity when prompted. Haven't really figured out how to make it specifically work with returning to scenes, but that's a work in progress

Scripting, continued - definitely a lot more complicated with a lot more nuance than I expected, as evidenced by my notes. To think that even just fitting together strings, integers, and floating point numbers - or other data types - could be this complicated. Pretty interesting!

Started learning scripting last week. Definitely an interesting experience, especially with how it was visualized into folders for describing two completely separate instances of either code initiating at the start or code constantly being initiated every time a frame updates.

While I was trying to add a custom material for the sail (red and white pinstripe) on the boat, I accidentally ended up deleting the original color that the boat's sail had (which was just red), so instead the sail turned into this lovely shade of magenta. A tad bright, though.

Working on a walking sim. Importing models has turned out pretty well so far - here's how they look right now. The "terrain" that it's set on is just the same piece of rock angled and rotated differently at different sizes several times, but I think it looks convincing enough.

Playing through Proteus was an amazing experience. The fact that the music is generated by the surroundings the player is based in - meaning that no 2 players will hear the exact same soundtrack - was an absolutely brilliant part of the design and I enjoyed playing it so much!

Now with some textures and color! I might not stay with this specific map going into the next project, but it's proven to be a great place for experimentation. Next is modeling collision and importing assets so that something hopefully better-looking can show up next time :)
