Yes they can indeed! I found some fancy spices/herbs once that had carrot seeds mixed in

Oh please do yourself a favor and eat some next season! They’re like delicious radishy sugar snap peas.
All brassicas have edible pods but I’ve noticed radishes and root vegetables have bigger, more “meaty” pods. Cabbages and leafy greens have thinner woodier pods that aren’t really worth eating.

Yearly rotation is a great idea! It keeps you from getting overwhelmed with too many seeds to save aswell! I love it. Do you ever save your radish seeds? I let some of mine go bolt just to eat the pods.

Are you going to start hand pollinating or separating them to avoid crossbreeding of the dark colors and the yellows? I’m not aware of how easily carrots cross in proximity, but I have to do it with my peppers

That sounds fun and tasty. I’ve been wanting to try some dying with kitchen scraps and such for fun. I started when I accidentally stained a favorite white shirt with coffee so I just did a whole dying of it with coffee lol

I have a packet of “dragon carrots” I’m planting next year that have reddish skin but nothing close to how dark those are. Imagine making a carrot cake out of those! I bet you could dye clothes too.

Ooooo what variety are those carrots? I thought they were beets at first when I saw them!

I borrowed your picture to use in iNaturalist.

Using iNaturalist, I looks to be a type of honey fungus or scale cap. My suggestion is find your local mycologist to help get an identification. That big of a bloom will probably fruit again and again. Take some, get them identified, then go back for more if they’re safe to eat.

A great example of “the cruelty is the point” approach this administration loves
