I know what you’re thinking. I’m very worldly and exotic. It’s true.

The pieces started coming together when I started eating dinner at friends’ houses in my small town in Minnesota. Their moms and grandmas didn’t always have a bowl of leftover vermicelli mixed with red sauce in the fridge. Some of them didn’t even eat red sauce on their noodles because—too spicy!

But it gives me an idea as to why so many of the kind-hearted men I know only have women as close friends.

I got the kid a watch with a step counter and we’ve been walking a lot more.
