I believe in order to be authentic, it has to be insemolina.

Brought to you by CBS Sunday Morning.

Are you willing and able to plug the hole in the event of an emergency?

If not, one of our flight attendants will be happy to re-seat you.

Wouldn't just voting Abbott out of office be easier?
June 21, 2025 at 4:05 PM
I believe the suicide squeeze is the proper call here.
June 18, 2025 at 1:01 PM
And if that doesn't work, maybe we move to dropping a hair dryer in the bathtub?

@dicknixon.bsky.social Big news if true, Mr. President.

If someone said that to me, I'd shake their hand and say "Well played, sir." Yet the right would label ME the snowflake....

To me, based on how it worked with the end stations in broadcast is, by being required to give the other time, it was more about the lost revenue of giving away the time. It impacted the decision whether or not to air something. That's having an impact. It's not just the rule or law itself.
June 11, 2025 at 1:03 PM
May I ask your generation? Only to understand if you had any real-life experience with it for context.

It was part of an overall policy landscape that did have an actual impact. Working together. Whether it was good or bad is view-dependent, but there was most certainly and impact.

What I'm failing to convey is the need for a re-think of how to protect 1A AND the truth in an age of technically manipulated data and narratives. Another layer of bureaucracy won't help it. It needs thoughtful, sober consideration.

Again, thank you for the conversation.
June 11, 2025 at 12:54 PM
The only difference is I disagree in that it did have value - and when combined with other policy and changes, it helped enable the current environment.

Where I admit I'm wrong is maybe I overvalued the role it played in and of itself, but I do thank you for aiding that perspective.
June 11, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Yes, including things like 1A protections, competition, deregulation.

I know what a provider is.

Here'e the part where you again tell me there's zero relation and I'm always wrong. Then block me. Because we seem to be arguing two different things.

It didn't change the regulatory landscape for cable TV? That's the only thing I said. Period. And combined with other changes, it fertilized the soil for today's environment.

Not sure what's do controversial about this. It's not hard to follow the bouncing ball here.
June 11, 2025 at 12:43 PM
I didn't. I was speaking of a specific situation. I just didn't "include" it. So that makes me wrong.
June 11, 2025 at 12:40 PM
If you have nothing to add but "you're wrong" and "no basis," that's your prerogative.

Thanks for adding value and intelligent dialogue on something that's not so black and white. Peace and love.
June 11, 2025 at 12:38 PM
No. To anyone holding a broadcast license. Or is that "fact" wrong too?
June 11, 2025 at 12:36 PM
Where is an incorrect "fact?"
June 11, 2025 at 12:35 PM
No, I've actually agreed with you on several things - what I'm trying to say is it's a combined effect of many changes - including the Fairness Doctrine.

I'm honestly not trying to be bull-headed here. No one thing got us here. But the erosion of many things did. This is one example.
June 11, 2025 at 12:27 PM
Can you share a source on that? There's a good chance I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Supreme Court ruled it was Constitutional.

Someone might say it violates the First Amendment, but was there was an actual ruling? If so, I've been mistaken for many years.
June 11, 2025 at 2:02 AM
That's where we differ - and I admit, I am not an expert. But when combined with other legislation and influence, reshaped the landscape and set the table for today's environment.
June 11, 2025 at 1:59 AM
And again we agree - ultimately that is all that matters. And part of what got us here - overall - is being scared of revisiting rules and laws on a regular basis, in a methodical way. So we complicated and added bureaucracy until all that remains is ideological extremism on the left and right.
