Day 6 was very chill, we slept in, had a chance to just walk around Osaka, peruse a cute book store and eat delicious local food!

Hanging out with my girl Birdie!

Day 5: was a trip to the awe inspiring Bamboo Forrest, including a scenic train ride through the countryside. Later we participated in a tea ceremony where we wore traditional clothing (I felt so beautiful I could’ve cried). Finally we went shopping and made our own perfume!

Today my friends and I participated in a traditional tea ceremony! It was one of my favorite experiences so far and all my friends looked amazing! 💜😊

Day 4 was our trip to Nara to see the dazzling Todai-ji Daibutsuden which houses the Great Buddha! The best part is the deer that roam the entire park, they were all so adorable and I swear half the pics I have from today are just the deer!

Oh and I made this wish here. 💜🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Day 3 had us visiting Osaka Castle, a night trip to Dotonbori for the Halloween festivities and the best bowl of ramen I’ve ever had in my life at Ichiran-Ramen! Simply another incredible day on this adventure!

Happy Halloween my friends! This lucky ensign somehow transported to Japan on 2023… an oddly specific time lol.

Day 2 was Universal Studios Japan! Super Nintendo World is incredible (I did my best Super Mario 64 painting jump) and my personal favorite was the Biohazard 2 (aka RE:2 Remake) haunt! What a day!

Day 1 was amazing! I loved walking through the streets, exploring the stores, trying the delicious food and just taking in the atmosphere! Japan is incredible!

I really couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up our horror movie marathon than by watching One Cut of the Dead… what a absolutely delightful movie this is! Brilliant acting, a hilarious script and it showcases how amazing it is to make art (no matter how messy it gets). 🧵

Wow only 1 movie to go and than it’s the end of our yearly horror movie marathon! I hope y’all have gotten some enjoyment reading my reviews and I thank you for putting up with my endless threads talking about each movie we watched! I wish y’all a wonderful Spooky Season! 💜🎃

King Kong (1933) is a showstopper as a technical piece of filmmaking. Willis H. O'Brien is the hero of this picture as he crafted such wonderful effects that changed the film industry and the world. His work on Kong and the various monsters of Skull Island are out of this 🧵

I can’t sleep but I also can’t stop thinking that I’ll be up this early on Friday going to the airport to start my journey to Japan. It still feels unreal…

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is a film that took me by total surprise. It’s a sharp, hilarious horror flick that takes a rather straightforward premise and goes wild with the plot and editing… and I say this as a compliment. I haven’t seen a movie told like this but I see it as a 🧵

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a beautiful, complex and moving exploration of growing up. It’s a story both this and the original game explore which is how complicated we all are, these are flawed characters but that makes them so much more… human. As a prequel it’s 🧵

4 days until we leave for Japan and only these 4 horror movies left to watch! We’re in the home stretch! I hope y’all are having a wonderfully fun spooky season! 🎃

Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages is our oldest film from 1922 and I was absolutely astonished by the films sensitivity for those persecuted for witchcraft. It’s shockingly critical of the church and ultimately is about how evil is a thing humanity brings into this world. 🧵

Ghostwatch is a totally fun little event that really plays into the fun idea of broadcasting a haunting on TV. It’s got some genuine spooks and the actors do a great job of coming off as authentic witnesses. I’m sure if I lived in the UK in 1992 I would’ve loved seeing actual 🧵

I haven’t played it but I saw a wonderful video exploring Wanted: Dead a game that has become infamous for… well being itself. I love this and while I can’t speak on the actual gameplay, the club sequence that transitions into anime with the Maniac cover is pure artistic bliss!

The Boogeyman 2023 is one of the bigger surprises not only for our horror marathon but 2023 as well. I found it to be a genuine scary flick with immensely effective set pieces, a frightening monster and a strong story about facing trauma with the people in your life & fighting 🧵
