woke up, found out it's gonna be between 90-100 degrees of too hot outside today, and already want to go back to sleep in the nice safe indoors with the air conditioner without even going out in it. x_X

So, what started as looking through my old comics and magazine boxes for a thing turned into a rabbit hole trying to figure out who did the cover for this because we couldn't find and artist credit in the book. Best guess so far is Ed McGuiness from the style and half a signature. #CityOfHeroes

working on a sculpture idea, had to bake the body before working on the head so that the body and final detail doesn't get squished while working on the head. the hand drooped in the oven and looks a little.. ehhhh now, but too late to fix unless i resculpt the arm, and i am lazy, so no.

what WAS gonna be a "lol let me throw some old crap for funny pictures as a joke" turned into a sad mess because a couple meds i've been on had a side effect of making me gain weight this past year. My coat still fits at least, but the coat is the coat, it always fits. the rest... not so much. T_T

was talking to someone while watching Velvet Goldmine and wound up sketching a thing, and realized i'm both really out of practice on some stuff, and better off sticking to sculptures and plushies at this point because its getting hard to see my own linework. Think i might need different glasses.

testing a new pattern, I resized, scaled, and converted from knit to crochet the season 18 aka final 4th doctor who's scarf. testing it with some old yarn i had around that's close enough colors, because apparently the original in the show was chenille yarn, and that crap is expensive so nooope!

honestly, i think i redesigned Gambit's outfit when i got bored every few years for fun. also yes, this one has that 80's/90's thing where the stripe pattern on the side gets larger and further apart as they go, i had an outfit that did that from gymnastics as a teen also in black and hot pink.

oh god, the "redesign ALL THE COSTUMES" phase. 2004-8 was the being creatively starved post-college and needing to draw or die years. I think I redesigned half the x-men's costumes, wrote a webcomic, a novel, and did a bunch of random figure stuff while taking care of gramma after moving home too.

Looking through old stuff, and realizing some of it is almost 20 years old now, and feeling old myself again. Always wanted to build a sculpture of this one, might finally do that this year now that things like UV resin kits and such exist and are affordable for the flame details.

feels weird i made this thing around 20 years ago now, back in 2006 when i was writing a FF7-DMC crossover fanfic right after college.
all the stuff for the new DMC series got me poking through some old stuff and I remembered it existed.
Wonder if i still have the Jenova Hellspawn art anywhere...

since the early 80's around here one commercial with a star struggling its way onto a tree but failing repeatedly until the tree finally bends over and lifts it up to the top becoming a glowing tree of lights has been a holiday staple.

Chocobo scarf finally updated on etsy since I've been redoing some of the older final fantasy related patterns i made. It may not get you across the world map any faster but it'll keep ya plenty warm in winter!
