Yakuza Kiwami:
I LOVED Yakuza 0 and was hoping this was more of the same. It was not. The stunlock-ridden combat isn't fun and dragged the game down. The story is fine, and the side stories I did were enjoyable, though. I hope Kiwami 2 is better whenever I get to it. Also: Pocket Circuit best.

A Little to the Left:
Aesthetically/sonically fantastic. The sounds when you move various objects are realistic and pleasing, and the visuals are endearing and distinct. I found some of the puzzles to be a bit too obtuse. I wish it had a mode where you could organize things however you wanted.

Super Kiwi 64:

Truly the culmination of Diplodocus's 3D platformers thus far. Slightly longer and more mechanically complex, still just as charming and evocative of a highly nostalgic era. Games are aesthetic pieces as much as they are, well, "games". Diplodocus's works understand this well.

Beeny:

The second Diplodocus Games' work I played this year. I was super impressed by how well it captured the aesthetic of Donkey Kong Country. It's less than an hour long and the levels have minimal variety but the bounce-based movement is fun and Beeny is round.

Macbat 64: Journey of a Nice Chap

I started the year off playing a bunch of Diplodocus Games' early works. Macbat 64 was charming, simple, and highly nostalgic. It's like an hour long, but if you want something that perfectly captures N64-era 3D platformers, look no further!

Not sure what I want to use Bluesky for considering I've been out of the social media game for so long, but I think I'm gonna post short reviews of the games I've played this year. A fun writing exercise, and I can share my thoughts on what I like!
