It depends, the last book in the arc is much more interconnected to the rest of the series. If you're most interested in Stormlight, start there, but if you like to know all the background stuff that's going on (esp 5th book), you can go to Mistborn first. I read Stormlight before Mistborn myself.

You can start small! There's other standalone books (atm) that are nice easy reads. The most intimidating are probably the Stormlight Archives because of the sheer length but still my favorite. You could read Warbreaker or Elantris as a follow up!

It's really the strangest overlap. I've know people who are so extremely left and extremely right that they're both "all natural" anti-vax but wildly different views on most everything else.

Oooh so you're diving into Mistborn with all that Cosmere knowledge like I did. It really changes the game in a good way. I had so many large scale theories by the end 😂

And Wind and Truth 😏

If you got some nice bookends, I'd say put the leatherbounds and special hardcovers in the middle of the top shelf. Add some figures around the sides. Then on the bottom shelf, split the rest of fhe books to the left and right and fill the middle with more merch.

#sandershelf I was never the same after Way of Kings.

Oh no! If you tell me what you saw, I can let you know how bad it is. I wouldn't trust browsing the cosmere posts until you've finished :( The reddits are pretty well regulared though!

I think the big difference for me is I'm not a fan of grimdark and Era 1 was Sanderson's attempt at it. The 2nd era appeals more to be because it's more lighthearted and fun while still keeping all the other stuff I love about the characters and world.

Ahhh no, you definitely miss out! Especially for Wind and Truth! It's not just for Lift, but Nale too.

My gal doing what she does best. Breaking up all the serious moments with a little mayhem 🥰

I was so mad at that ending. It was good but I was also convinced that nothing could hurt me as much as Era 1 ending but damn that was my favorite character.

If you want fun shoot em' up Western with a buddy cop duo in the big city plus the same magic system as Era 1, read Era 2. I enjoyed it more the Era 1. It's not better, it's just more FUN.

Hot take: I enjoyed Era 2 more than Era 1 😂

I say this as someone who started with Way of Kings and read everything "out of order". I enjoyed Stormlight way more than Mistborn and might not have gotten into the Cosmere if I'd started there. The connections are subtle til Wind&Truth and The Lost Metal. So be free, welcome, and enjoy 🥰 (2/2)

I will chime in since no one has said it yet. Don't get super bogged down on reading order. Yes, you can start Mistborn and follow these lists BUT if you start it and you're not feeling it, pick something else in the universe that interests you and read that. You'll come back to Mistborn. (1/2)

As others have said, Emperor's Soul, and there's another short story "The Hope of Elantris" in the Ars Arcanum. Read the postscript after, it's really sweet why he wrote it. And then he is actually going to write an Elantris sequel in the next couple of years!

I love this book so much because at the beginning, I really detested Vivenna. She was exactly the sort of person I would avoid in real life. By the end, her character changed so much believably, and I LOVED her. It reminds me that people can change.
