While not a CGI "cinematic" scene... the events that Zidane goes through in Terra, as well as the party rallying to support him, gets me everytime. The music, the dialogue. I just love it.

I lost my mom in 2010 and decided to try her old character name out of curiosity and it worked. So now I'm fully going to carry the legacy with me.

I'm gonna catch heat for this one I'm sure. Ivalice was an amazing setting, the game was beautiful, the gameplay was fun... But by far and large, the overall story and cast were complete duds for me. What about all of you?

I'll go with my current listening obsession. I loved the original back in the day and was pumped at the stealth release. It was a flawed title but the music is SO good.

Four Corners Farm, lots of love and effort put into it. Vanilla game, no mods.

Red Mage (RDM) has the best drip of all time! But also I love playing support or tank. A truly good support is like the grease that makes the machine run perfectly. You barely even notice it with how smooth everything goes.

Far and away has to be FFXVI. Ben Starr's work as Clive Rosfield was out of this world. The emotion he was able to evoke in those lines was nothing short of powerful. I think this was the most times I've cried throughout a game ever

This was an easy one. Nelsha from Thousand Arms. Every moment that she speaks is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I tried using her once and immediately regretted it.

I mean, can you do any better than Stardew Valley? I can live comfortably from farming, function off 4 hours of sleep, fight monsters in caves, make friends, help my community, pet my dog, and oust corporations. What's not to love?

Well hot damn I just posted about this! Bugsnax was an incredible experience, just finished it last night. Solid 9/10--amazing writing, solid music, and fun/unique gameplay mechanics. Short game with high replayability, which is exactly my jam. A criminally underrated title!

9/10, incredible experience. Fun, unique gameplay, great writing, great music. Exactly what I want when I try a totally new game or IP.

Ardyn, hands down. He had constant presence from early in the story, and his reveal was a great slow-burn. As a villain he had solid motivation, and is one of the few baddies to damn near follow through on his plans. The fight was also rough when underleveled.

I love custom mechanics. Experienced players can often meta some little things here or there and pick up on what you're doing. But if I throw in something I made up, I get 'em thinking.

Final Fantasy Tactics had such a profound impact on me. Its story is such a journey, and pulled off such great layers of intrigue and politics. Though buggy with rough localization, it was an incredible title in its own right.

... I admit to some personal bias here. Nick Quest is a game I made with RPG Maker MV in 2019; I did heavy revisions in 2022-23 when my vision for the game changed. It's a quirky old-school RPG with a lot of heart, engaging combat, and some bang-up dialogue (per reviews)

I already used FFXI so I'll go with another. Secret of Mana is a game I played since my youth, and I love it to this day. I used to haul my SNES to a friend's house on weekends and we would sit down and marathon it together. Great music and gameplay, classic story

By far and away Gaia is one of my favorite settings in a game. I love how unique each region is, the cool twist with Terra late-game, airships, Eidolons... just about everything in this setting ticks a box for me. It has a castle with a giant sword in it. Need I say more?

I have played--and got The World ending--on Ogre Battle last year, settling a 27 year gaming vendetta. Loved it as a kid. But a remake with some QoL changes, and better explanation of systems like Morality and Charisma, would enhance its already great replay value
