A good example of why the internet archive is impotant.
Be it J6, past promises from large conglomerates or just scams.
The internet archive allows us, the little people to fact check what happened at the time.
I miss the naive belief of "If you put it on the internet, it'll be around forever"
By erasing it, or trying to, they make it more memorable. The Internet is written in indelible ink.
A database detailing Jan 6 crimes and convictions has disappeared from the Department of Justice website.

“This is a huge victory for J6ers..."

What're some good passive ways to consume software engineering / dev content.

What are some good podcasts/websites/books!

Trying to find some valuable info or sources.

So it's finally happening, been receiving a large uptick of requests to work on/fix/enhance AI generated code essentially thrown together by "idea guys".
The job game has changed again.

How do people balance their social media usage with work/play/hobby?
I either unlock the ability to focus and forget to log onto these apps, or I'm essentially addicted and struggle to focus. Where is the middle ground😭

Been a few weeks now and flutter's feeling pretty intuitive, going from C to this is a form of whiplash in its own right though. Nice not worrying about memory too much and having all the QoL available.
On week 2 I discovered the Dev tools and fell in love.
Guess the react-native arc is truly dead💀

"Rest without guilt"
Feels too rare. There are always side projects beckoning me to their call.
Happy New Year

A summary of the weekend - mobile app Dev or embedded dev. So much to do and only finite time.

Moving from react native to Flutter has been pretty peaceful but I'm dreading the size of an enterprise app.

Search your code for any occurrences of "TODO: this query is fast for now, probably want to improve locking around this when it gets big"

and fix them.

What niche forms of monetisation are there? Ad revenue is one, twitters premium pyramid style scheme is another, so too is monthly payments/subscriptions. What are some lesser known and lesser used options?

Being social while being a developer feels like both a superpower and simultaneously a curse, I've lost the ability to dive deep, days/weeks deep into a topic like some other people, but you're out there maintaining friendships and relationships and networking away.

This is your reminder to reach out to someone who's helped you in the past and either thank them if you haven't or update them on your life.

Recently messaged an old college prof due to graduating and it sparked up a great little catch up.

It'a nice to see what looking like genuine yap from other people when I refresh the page. Very much like sitting at the park and listening to the conversations that walk by.

No level of web dev can compare to the feeling of having hardware components to mess around with.
Now what to make?

Spent another weekend messing around with an esp32.
Moving from code only changing things on a screen to having them move, turn or light up in the physical world is a new kind of satisfaction.
