Trump was a phony and an idiot to me as a child in the 90's.

Trump supporters aren't interested in politics; it's way over their heads.

They lack what we learn in the arts and the humanities—perspective, or "wisdom"
They love meaninglessness. They're drawn to that which lacks meaning because it comforts them, is a reflection of what is inside them

you'd have to be dumb as a brick to think a man who bankrupted casinos and thinks trade deficits are the result of "everybody being unfair to us" could possibly do something for the economy

Our culture has some difficulty pinning down what a "free thinker" is because it's a matter of perspective but I'd like to submit that it's the opposite of people driven by baby-ass tantrums like this

Maybe reading on one's own is not the same as participating in understanding with others and having perspective challenged by others and being pushed to experience things outside of one's boundaries

These are some of the uses of poetry! But you are correct in this: famously, it makes nothing happen

A problem here is not understanding what has utility in the world and what does not, which is the consequence of a lack of perspective and depth, which is part of what we learn by studying poetry, but that would take more than 4 week introduction to grasp.

Our culture doesn't study poetry enough.

"workout areas to improve transportation" is the dumbest meathead idea, like: they'll do anything to avoid improving people's lives because caring about anything makes them feel weak

these people are aggressively unserious

the whole movement has never been anything but pettiness and we should all recognize that out loud to their faces to help them stop being like this
December 8, 2025 at 1:30 AM
instead of growing up, the self-centered need everyone else to grow down to make them feel better about themselves

Pettiness is killing our culture. It's all Trumpism has ever been.
