Loved the first person narrator main character Janina. Intriguing setting, atmosphere, and story. Another great novel by Olga Tokarczuk.

Pine needles, moss, mushrooms, mist. A narrator that speaks directly to the reader addressing them as “we”. Writing, setting, and well developed characters all make for a creepy and entertaining October read. Solid.

Just finished the work of historical fiction by Benjamín Labatut. Loved the insight into some of the great minds of the early 20th century.

A circus comes to town hawking a display of a stuffed whale. Also in the company was a “prince” who stands 2 feet tall and sports 3 eyes. Several mistake the “prince” as prophetic. Hilarity and tragedy ensues.

"Will you go to bed now? If I set the mood organ to a 670 setting?"
"What does that bring about?" he asked.
"Long deserved peace," Iran said.

Mircea Cărtărescu’s Solenoid. Starts as a memoir, and morphs into a fantastical absurdist exploration of the man’s life in Bucharest. Stunning writing throughout. Read this. Worth it. Trust me.

Solenoid by Mircea Cărtărescu. A very deep and introspective memoir of a hopeful poet, his dreams destroyed by the powers that judge talent, to live life as a school teacher. Amazing.

New author for me. Loved the novel. Great usage of making the reader doubt reality again and again. Leaves you guessing as to what really is.

The Hemingway Library Collection read continues with The Old Man and the Sea. As a kid I picked this book to write a report due to the small size of it. As an old man, I deeply appreciate the book. Loved it.
