so you've arrived at my profile to see what i'm all about. first, welcome! second, while i am young and many of my views are in flux, i do have some strong opinions. however, i welcome opportunities to be challenged; i believe in the transformative nature of facing one's shadow.

at its core, political theory is how value gets decided (epistemology/metaphysics) and by whom (legitimacy).

for the left, value is contingent (because history or society could have shaped it differently). for the right, value is inherited (because it precedes the chooser).

is this all there is truly?
this
satisfaction of implanted desires
this
slavery in the guise of freedom

what of purpose?
is there something higher we’ve been distracted from
this promise of the worldly
satisfies nothing
of what we truly need
and offers nothing of what would save us from ourselves

the one upside of being surrounded by your enemy is that you can fire in all directions and still hit your target

ngl this is a pretty terrible article, but this section as egregiously bad.

the fellowship is quite literally a consolidation of power. the point is the refusal of corrupting power, not the refusal of any power. i mean i can go on at length how wrong they are here. maybe read the books again.

words are not coming to me right now. this just seems like one of those days that you look back on and go yeah things are sort of different now than they were before that day. regardless how you feel about kirk, he was a father to a young girl who will grow up without a dad. i am heartbroken.

1917 bolshevik revolution seems like an inflection point in history how it forced every ideology that survived to redefine itself in relation to bolshevism

prior to 1917, it was basically assumed that a functional society needed a shared unifying mythos towards some end beyond individual preference
