In 2023/24 Westminster took about £88bn revenue from Scotland, refunding around £51bn to spend on our own needs. Westminster then decided how the other £37bn of our money was to be spent. The ‛block grant’ is a partial *refund* of our own money, not a gift. #IndependenceIsNormal #Scotland #Indyclan

Greenland is to hold a referendum on independence because they voted for a parliament in favour of holding one. Westminster continues to block Scotland from holding an independence referendum. What was that about a partnership of equals again?

At last, the positive case* for the Union is discovered.
Scotland's economy is valued at £218Bn.
The 'block grant' refunded to Scotland by Westminster to spend on ourselves is just £51Bn.

Imagine if Scotland could create its own money?
We could make the decision to support or nationalise Grangemouth and fund the just transition to renewables jobs as part of our energy strategy. No waiting for Westminster to act and with full policy and economic levers to manage our economy to do this

I’d like to see this as a campaign - maybe something Indy artists could get together on, as a geek I saved the BSky handle - what do you think

bsky.app/profile/nino...
Indy needs a solid educational campaign of ‘Scotland’s worth’ - what’s it worth to the world, what’s it worth to us, to our future and what it’s worth to Westminster. Above the line advertising is a must.

Starmer will be spitting feathers over this. The ravages of Brexit disease upon UK infrastructure will continue. No amount of glossy brochures about growth, innovation, and prosperity will solve things unless the UK ditches its 86 deregulated free zones and rejoins the EU

Keep up this momentum by highlighting disappointment at getting a Labour Gov in Westminster suspiciously like the Tory Gov before it. Westminster is not the answer for Scotland, a change of Gov in Westminster is not enough. We need to make our own decisions and money. Independence now!
