The year is not yet two months complete but one band who have caught my ear somewhat thoroughly is the Indonesian act The Interpretation Cultures who are based in based in Makassar. The band consists of Fadhli Rafq Al-Fath (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Anaang Ma'ruf (guitar), Febrianto Syam (bass, keyboards) and Danuarta Dwi (drums, tambourine). Makassar's The Interpretation Cultures write that the two songs found on this release "inspired by some of releases indie label disanorak/heavenpunks from Jakarta, and surrounding areas. in which we think has a raw style". The first track Suicide Prevention has the DIY/Bedroom indiepop sound prevalent on that aforementioned label so if you are a fan of the current indiepop scene based in Indonesia you will like this one.

I have personally felt that The Interpretation Cultures have lost their way somewhat recently with releases covering instrumentals, covers and historical demos. Thankfully they are back on track with their brand new single Shatter. It's their most "Sarah Records" sounding release to date but the New Order Brotherhood era guitar sound gives it some diversity. The vocals standout as they spin the tale of melancholy love.
