Very good news from Tanzania today, as the Ministry declares the end of the latest Marburg outbreak.

This is the result of hard work and collaboration between partners including Gov't of Tanzania, AfricaCDC, @who.int , @unicef.org, @ifrc.org and the US CDC.

Great news: #Tanzania 🇹🇿 has officially declared the end of the #Marburg virus disease outbreak.

Today, the Ministry of Health declared the end of the outbreak after 42 days with no new cases. This is a victory for public health in the country!

Five years ago today, DG DrTedros @who.int characterized the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic.

In its report, @theindpanel.bsky.social described February as a lost month, when countries had been warned of a public health emergency of international concern, and too many delayed action on COVID.
