Is this not just a bunch of people not wanting to look like shitty heartless racists, but they are? I can't reconcile the massive drop in support and the not just recovery, but increase in support a year later. I think it just isn't cool to be pro-deportation right now, and that's it

When inflation first started to spike in 2021, a few months into Biden I had no less than 5 people at work tell me that their grocery bills had skyrocketed. One person literally said it had doubled. This was when inflation was at like 3%. They were completely running on vibes from the media

I think for the MAGA base that was really their platform in 2024, but so far what we've learned is MAGA people in office are absurdly incompetent. They can't even conduct a few with hunt prosecutions of criminal opponents.

Imo we should all be hoping for them to protect the tariffs. Only conceivable reason for this corrupt court to knock them down is because they think it will help Trump and Republicans in midterms/2028

Polling I've seen is that this is a slight anti-MAGA effect, but primarily a 'Why the fuck haven't you Republicans fixed the economy yet???' vote. Which is fantastic for Dems because we will need to transition from Anti-MAGA to Anti-Republican for 2028

I used to clown on accelerationists but will happily admit with hindsight that it is the correct move. I wish it wasn't, but it is. Democrats need to hold out even if Republicans decide the negotiate, food stamps need to fail and premiums need to spike. It's the only way forward

I've been saying since day 1 that I think everyone convinced of an easy Mamdani win was setting themselves up to experience another 2019 Dem primary where all the non-progressives rally around the opposition candidate. The only thing that might save him is Sliwa staying in and splitting the vote
