The 𝐈𝐂𝐃𝟏𝟎𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 was held in Cambridge from July 8–10, organized in collaboration with the @thegreatleap22116.bsky.social , the University of Cambridge, and the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure.

Today we are at the #YoungDemographers conference which is held from 5-7 February in Prague, Czech Republic at Faculty of Science - Charles University. #YD2025

➡️ Historical factors that contributed to the decline of TB, including nutrition, living conditions, and public health reforms.
➡️ Various factors affecting TB rates and manifestations in European countries and beyond.

Key discussion points:
➡️ The role of gender and age disparities in TB mortality, focusing on debates around women's vulnerability due to nutrition and differential exposure.
➡️ The influence of geographical factors, including urban-rural divides and the migration of TB patients.

The workshop aimed to bridge critical gaps in our understanding of TB's demographic patterns — especially in regions that have been underrepresented in research, such as Eastern and Southern Europe, as well as Asia, South America, and Africa.

📢 We are thrilled to share with you that our thematic Workshop - Tuberculosis: The White Death as a Social Disease organized by the IUSSP Scientific Panel in collaboration with the University of Sassari and our GREATLEAP Cost initiative was conducted successfully!

On Tuesday 27 July 2024 the Historical International Classification for Diseases (ICD10h) was launched, in which 76 scholars participated. Now all documents are available online: 🧵⬇️
