Love comics, Liverpool Football Club and my wife.

Not necessarily in that order.
So @kellythompson.bsky.social Birds of Prey run is ending at #28. NGL I'm gonna miss this book a lot. It was great fun & always a bright light in my day when I got to read it. But, I think I will miss Big Barda & Small Bat most of all. The dynamic duo we never knew we needed.😞

Never been a more timely, or appropriate point to rewatch The Drumhead episode from Star Trek TNG.

It's insane how good this book is. @markwaid.bsky.social @chrissamnee.bsky.social @matlopes.bsky.social are doing incredible work here & my only gripe is that there's only 1 issue left. So if it's not too much trouble @dc.com could we possibly get a Yr 2 or an ongoing to follow this? 🙏

I am beginning to believe that I am somehow living in an alternate universe, because this issue of Amazing Spider-Man was bloody good comics.

Like really good. WTF is going on??!!

Damian Wayne Batman 666 Funko.

Yeah, I need it.

Mine came yesterday. First shirt I've bought in five years, because it's a masterpiece.

Had a great time reading these two. Batman Dark Patterns is, in my opinion, one of if not the best Bat book on the shelves. Modern and fresh, but undeniably classic in feel. I adore it. Absolute Batman is a close second, because it's just so damn unpredictable and has infused a level of grotesque...

No Nightwing or Cassandra Cain Batgirl in this event, but Jason Todd and Damian Wayne get on the card?

..missing element from all of the Bat books, not just this one. As for the art, Jimenez reinvents his style yet again, while still letting everyone know this is Jorge Jimenez art. Overall, a really enjoyable beginning to the Fraction/Jimenez era & a most welcome return to form for the main Bat book.

Batman #1. This really felt like a throwback to early Batman stories. There's a case, Batman is on it, Batman solves it. Fraction also brings back something that I've wanted for some time now, maybe not in the exact way I wanted, but it's wholly appreciated nonetheless, as I feel it's been a....

...as restricted with what you can do? Don't get this wrong btw, the latest arc of ASM is solid and there's an engagement I've not felt for a long time. I just can't help but wishing the main character was getting the same freedom in storytelling instead of being shunted off to space, which feels...

Why does Marvel love Spider-Man, but hates Peter Parker as Spider-Man?

3 times in the last decade he's been replaced/sidelined in his own title while two villains & a clone get the spotlight. Are writers so boxed in by what they can and cannot do with Peter that they'll chose others who aren't..

Read Immortal Legend Batman #1 today. I'm not a big Power Rangers guy, but there's enough fun and mix of Bat lore with sci-fi to hook in any newcomers.

I do know one thing, DC are going to make a fuck ton of cash from action figures/Funkos and t-shirts from this line.

I initially hated this run, but have grown to love it over time. Strangely enough, I feel it was the last time that the main Spider-Man title was consistently good, if not great.

Look, I've been reading modern ASM long enough to know not to be fooled into thinking one good issue means the book has turned around. But this issue was really good, with appropriate art and a surprisingly good story with a neat little twist.

Am I completely sold? No, not in a million years. 1/

Batman & Robin #24. I've enjoyed this Memento story, but I really feel it was stretched a lot more than it should've been. As a big fan of The Boy Wonder, I was delighted to see Juni Ba do a few pages underscoring Damian's growth. A nice & welcome touch.

Batman Dark Patterns #9. Quite why more people aren't talking about the incredible writing or the mind blowing art, is a mystery. It's a mystery worthy of @danpgwatters.bsky.social Batman, who I'm sure would turn it into the most compelling case the Dark Knight Detective has ever worked on. 1/

Over in the other place, I'm seeing Grayson Super Spy slander. Mad how something that was previously popular suddenly isn't because the internet has decided they don't like what the writer is currently doing.

Read Batgirl #10, and Cheetah & Cheshire Rob The JL #1 this afternoon. DC are still crushing it.
August 8, 2025 at 2:22 PM
Read #2 of Chip Zdarsky's Captain America today and, outside of the Ultimate line, I think it's one of if not the best book Marvel is doing just now. And I say this not being a Cap guy at all.

Not gonna show it(I'll put Bluesky's graphic media filter on it), but this moment in this month's All New Venom doesn't have the impact it should, simply because the waited for too long to pull the trigger on it. It's a shame, because the whole scene is actually well written.

Occasionally, I check in to see what's going on in the Spider-Man corner of Marvel to see if there's a decent hook to keep me around. Sadly, there's still nothing doing. #NCBD

Read the Nightwing annual and I've came to the conclusion that this run is far more interesting when Nightwing is either not in it, or only fleetingly involved. Francavilla's art is, unsurprisingly, boss btw.
