As Minnesota's largest nonprofit food hub, we aggregate and distribute local food to connect the growers we support to the community we feed.

An example would be our CSA program. This week, members received fresh seasonal produce from five farms, ensuring farm partners a reliable source of income.

We have grown from working with 12 producers to more than 150. Meet Jesús, who founded Carrillo Brothers Farm with his brother Aldo. Since they joined The Good Acre, they have invested in infrastructure to raise chickens for eggs. We showed up for the Carillo brothers with help from community.

The Good Acre works with organizations, like MDA, to build programming and services around the needs of produce farmers in our region. Commissioner Petersen says, “The Good Acre provides opportunity for farmers, restaurants, food shelves, schools, institutions to get access to healthy local food."

We believe that true change happens when connections are made, like our partnership with Roseville Area Schools. What started as an experiment in sourcing local produce for school lunches has since grown into a model for how K–12 nutrition programs strengthen student wellness & local farm economies.

Since 2020, The Good Acre has worked with Second Harvest Heartland, directing thousands of pounds of purchased produce their way. Heidi Coe says, “If The Good Acre weren’t here, I don’t know what our local food system would look like.” Read more about this partnership on our blog.

Minnesota was the first state to declare an official Co-op Month proclamation in 1948. A co-op is a community of people who come together to capture economic opportunities. Our co-op partners have supported us from wholesale purchases to philanthropic support. Celebrate and shop at your local co-op!

Our growing season was marked by two trends: excess moisture and a late harvest. Farmers dealt with high water levels and cool temps, pushing crops back.

Despite the challenges, our farm partners met the increased demand of CSAs, ensuring full boxes every week and increased income for their farms.
